A Bay Area roadshow runs across the whole region in a day — San Francisco, Sand Hill Road, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, San José — and the schedule you start the morning with is almost never the one you finish it with. Meetings overrun. Meetings get added. Someone asks to be dropped somewhere that was not on the sheet.
So the car is booked by the hour and stays with you. It waits outside while a meeting overruns, moves when you move, and absorbs the eleven o'clock change of plan that turns four meetings into six. None of that works if a car has to be summoned for each leg.
Inside your booked hours the stops are unlimited, and the hours can be extended on the day if the schedule keeps growing. Coats and cases stay in the car between meetings, because it is the same car all day and it has not gone anywhere.
