Monterey Regional Airport sits five minutes from downtown and takes both regional flights and private aircraft. It is a small terminal, which means arrivals are quick and a car at the curb is genuinely at the curb.
From here Pebble Beach is fifteen minutes, Carmel is ten, and Laguna Seca is twenty on a road that carries the whole county. Whether those numbers hold on a given day depends entirely on what is on.
Short journeys, and where they end
Nothing here is far. Almost everything here is difficult to park at, which is the same problem wearing a different hat.
Five minutes from downtown and small enough that meeting you inside is straightforward. Regional flights and private aircraft both, with the pickup set from the tail number where it is a private arrival.
The hotels along the water have short forecourts and long walks. We set down at the door rather than at the nearest legal spot two streets back.
The surrounding streets are metered and timed, and they fill when there is something on. For a group, one car held is simpler than several booked and re-booked.
